At Gordon Primary School, we value and implement high-level, evidence-based instructional practices to ensure all students have the opportunity to learn to their full potential and be successful in literacy.
We deliver a structured literacy approach that focuses on the most important elements to build literacy skills; oral language, phonemic awareness, synthetic phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension. Our staff are trained in ‘Get Reading Right’; which we use to deliver our synthetic phonics program in our Prep to Grade 2 classrooms. Our focus is on ensuring skills are taught in an explicit, systematic and cumulative manner.
